Towards the electronic ticket
The price of electronic ticket will be reduced in comparison with the ordinary one due to the reducing costs for its producing.
International Air Transport Association (IATA) demands from the states-members the replacement of ordinary tickets by electronic ones. The process of transfer to the new tickets is supposed to be finished in 2007.
IATA experts consider the electronic ticket to be more economical than ordinary one. Today the prime cost of the ordinary ticket is about $10 while the hypothetical prime cost of the electronic one will be $1-2. On the whole the industry will save on such innovation about $3 bill.
Electronic tickets are provided by Air transport service rules, but they are called electronic only because they are booked via web sites and in any case the passenger should get the ordinary ticket in the ticket office or at the airport. The electronic ticket at issue will exist only in the central database of the airlines. Using such an electronic ticket passenger may avoid a lot of problems connected with waste or spoilage of the ticket.
The initiative to transfer to electronic tickets is supported by neighbor states. In particular, some Russian airlines announced about the readiness to turn to the electronic system.
